About me

My name is Lisa.  I’m a native Texan, and I have created this website:  The Curator General – Gulf Coast, especially for all my cousins (that's you) in these steamy states.

I’ve loved the Gulf Coast all my life.  My Dad, who loved cars and driving them, would take himself, my Mom, and us 5 kids all over the U.S. on vacation (in a bright green station wagon) every summer.  Many of those trips were to the Gulf Coast states, sometimes to visit family, and sometimes to visit the states themselves, or some wonderful destination therein.

I have such strong memories of coming over some bridge or other and being blinded by the sun glimmering on the huge ocean laid out in all its immense glory.  It was a thrill every single time, and it still is today.

Sometimes we would go to an inland destination.  From those, I remember miles and miles of freeway surrounded by forest.

I also remember Reservation souvenir stores run by indigenous peoples.  We always stopped at those!  The smell of leather, the wonderful carved wood totems or other items that I could stare at forever, the intricate design of traditional beadwork, and always historical things everywhere, and stories!  Sometimes there were short demonstrations of this particular tribe’s traditional dances, performed in full leather and beadwork and feather costumes to a rhythmic drumbeat tune and singing.  I was always told what a privilege it was that they shared this little slice of their heritage with us.  Loved them all!

In addition to those vacations, I spent many happy hours on the Gulf, either on the beach or on a boat, pretending to fish.

Oh, and don't even get me started about the food!

I’m so happy you’ve found your way here.  I hope you find something you love.  I am only starting out now, in late Summer 2026, but rest assured there are many more products to come!  Sign up for our email list and you'll be notified when new items drop.

If you’re reading this, I wish you blessings of whichever kind you most need today!
